Hoopenburg stands apart as the only South African wine estate to have cultivated 100% of its grapes from low-yielding bush vines. Today, we uphold this legacy of excellence, with techniques that continue to yield grapes of the finest quality.
West of Muldersvlei near Stellenbosch, one of the Cape’s prime terroirs for fine wines is home to Hoopenburg.
Virtually encircled by the majestic Simonsberg mountain range, and commanding an unobstructed view of distant Table Mountain, the vineyards, charming homestead and tasing centre are blessed with an atmosphere of utter peace and tranquility.
The Mediterranean climate, southeast winds from False Bay and our coffee stone soild, create ideal conditions for cultivating grapes of the highest quality.
The brilliantly clear colour makes a refreshing statement. Primary notes of kiwi and white melon are complemented by hints of guava and granadilla on the palate. Crisp, well-balanced acidity uplifts the fruit notes for a lingering finish.
Hoopenburg is one of the Cape’s foremost boutique wineries, with wines that have gained a widespread reputation for high quality, integrated texture
and accessible fruity taste. We are the only estate where all our grapes are produced from bush vines.
Our winemaker sees his role as one of providing harmony in the vineyard, to capture and enhance the natural balance and quality that come from a great vineyard site, therefore producing world class wines for the consumer of today.
