Cape Point Vineyards
Cape Point vineyards consist of 3 estates - Noordhoek, Long Bridge and Scarborough. Situated on the narrow Cape Peninsula, it has the cold Atlantic Ocean in the west and the warm Indian Ocean in the east allowing various microclimates. The vineyards were developed with this in mind.

Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were planted on the cool south facing slopes of Noordhoek, the warmer north facing slopes selected for the potential to produce quality red wines, they are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz.

At this stage no reds are available yet as it is the intention of the owner to present well-matured reds to the market. A selection of the wines from this estate was recently presented at the Manuka Café in the Steenberg village.

Scarborough Sauvignon Blanc 2002 has typical capsicum and tropical fruit on the nose. This is a wine to drink now but should last another 2 years at least in the bottle. Selling at R45/bott.

Cape Point Sauvignon Blanc unfortunately is sold out, (although we have a few bottles left at R80/bottle), it has a more pronounced fruitiness and more capsicum with a small amount of Semillon - 5% adds to complexity.

Cape Point Semillon 2002 has the typical waxy nose of this cultivar with a hint of apricots. It is slightly wooded to add the complexity. An outstanding example of what can be achieved with Semillon in South Africa. Selling at a special price of R75/bott.

Scarborough Chardonnay 2001 is made in the popular lighter style, easy drinking now, but can mature further. Selling at R48/bott.

Cape Point Chardonnay 2001 is a more serious wine, more full - bodied. Some of it was matured in new wood but wood does not dominate. Can be drunk now, but will mature well in cellar. Selling at R68 per bottle.

Cape Point Noble Late Harvest 2001 is a must for those that appreciate a noble late harvest. It is made from the same grape as the famous Sauternes of France (Sauvignon Blanc). Selling at a special price of
R99/bott.

A barrel sample of Shiraz 2003 shows great promise.
